Clear Your Entryways from Clutter
The entryway of our house is the busiest area, I could say. We walk in and out of it, 24/7. Naturally, it tends to be the most cluttered area and probably the easiest to get dusty. It means the busiest, the dirtiest!
Let me guess, you probably have a rug on the side next to your door step with a pair of slippers you wore from your last out of town? May be, you have a console table where all the keys you could imagine lay ugly on top of them (not to mention unopened bills). I also figure that some of your gear may be hanging next to your door as you enter - tennis racket, umbrella, sports bags and a whole more clutters.
Our goal is simple - to make sure that your entryway is clutter-free.
Shoes and Slippers
The number one culprit that I always see whenever I visit houses is the slippers and shoes. It is never acceptable to parade them near your doorstep. With label or not, they should be well kept. It is really unsightly in any way you look at it.
Make it a habit to dust off shoes and store them where they should be - inside the shoe cabinet.
Foot Rug
I remember visiting a friend's house and I thought I saw a dead skunk lying next to their doorstep. I had to look closely to realize it was a foot rug. Must've been there 5 years ago; hosting all the germs you could imagine. It was for sure a major eyesore and an absolute focal point in their house.
When choosing foot rugs do not only consider the design, look for those rugs with rubber lining underneath. They are slip-free and easier to dust off. And most of all, replace them every 2 - 3 days. During rainy season you may have to change them everyday.
The Etc.
Keep away the gears along the entrance of your house. Most common items I see are: school bags, bicycle, broom and dustpan, golf club, tennis rackets and a whole lot more. Store items where they are appropriately should be.
If you have a console table very near the entrance (common in most houses), make sure the table is organize. I normally use ceramic decorative plates to organize the table. They do not only keep the items neat; but they also add color and drama. Using the same console table, you can also set an area where to put unread mails, keys and you favorite accessories commonly used (watches and bracelets). Its purpose is for easier grab and less chances of leaving them behind.
Our entryways, like most areas of home, should be kept clear. It is the second area (door is first) that your guests see when they visit your house. It pays to have a clean one for better lasting impression.
Have Fun with Wallpapers
Most people are intimidated when they hear wallpapers in home décor. “Wallpapers are only for the pro”, that’s what my friend said to me once. Is it really, I asked myself? I don’t tend to agree – but it does take courage to glue this decorative sheet of paper on your wall. Read article »
Not a Fib over Fiber
Eating the whole day or not eating at all retards my stomach’s digestion activity. I am considered sinful and stubborn because I do not mind missing or skipping meals. I also base my eating habits for a day at events and occasions depending on my emotions. I deal with hunger as a flip of a coin. Read article »
Bedroom Fashion: Dressing up your windows
I know you guys aren’t idiots, but for the sake of clarity, let me just say that by dressing up your windows, I didn’t mean knit them scarves and somehow manage to make it look like they have necks to wrap them around with. I meant adding certain elements to your windows to make them contribute to your bedroom’s overall design—and even how your entire house looks from the outside. Read article »

I truly agree.
"Let me guess, you probably have a rug on the side next to your door step with a pair of slippers you wore from your last out of town?"
Guilty as charged!
Thanks for the tips.
