Charcoal to Bust Odor

I remember growing up and seeing my Granny frantically put charcoal all over the house. She likes placing them inside a rusty, old mug and put them in every corner known to household. I had no idea what she was doing at that time. I thought they were home for the ants or some form of ancient voodoo. It was crazy, I thought back then.

But I know better now, of course! Our house back then may look like odd to many but it sure was pristine from any unwanted odor. Thanks to my Voodoo Granny.

Today, I will not teach you how to place a charcoal inside a mug. Instead, we will put them inside a crystal salad bowl! Gotcha!

While I truly respect the point of placing charcoals inside the house, I would never find it acceptable to sacrifice the aesthetic value. So, why don't we combine the purpose of charcoal and tons of aestheticism?

Here are the items you need:
1. Corrugated box (or any box that doesn't look hideous!)
2. Tulle Cloth (Hard) - Available in most local bookstores
3. Some leaves or flower decors.
4. Glue Gun (No need to secure license for this, really)
5. And of course, charcoals (And I almost forgot to add this)

Now, let's do it!
- Depending on the type of box you have chosen, cut the tulle cloth with 2 inches allowance on both ends. More like how we cut the gift wrappers; leaving allowance to cover the edges.
- After cutting, carefully insert the tulle cloth inside the box; making sure part of the cloth will go beyond all sides of the boxes.
- Once you're happy with the form and balance, glue the corners just enough to keep the form of the tulle cloth.
- Now we come to the fun part. You may now add any décor your mind can imagine. You can ever put Christmas lights. Be my guest! Personally, I prefer to keep it simple. I added 2 colored textile leaves which I bought for P20.00.
- You are basically finished. All there is to do is to carefully add the old fashioned charcoal inside the box. You might get some black stain here and there. Don't fret! You can easily blow them off.

The beauty of this project is that you can flaunt it because it has a decorative point of view; not to mention its real purpose - to fight bad odor!

For the whole project, I spend P85.75. Unfortunately, I cannot add the tab of my favorite coffee drink I got during my stroll along Glorietta 5.

You may now enjoy your odorless living room. Thanks to wonder charcoal and thanks to my Granny for making me realize that charcoal is not a major voodoo ingredient.
