Living Room Makeover in a Jiffy
Are you hosting a party very soon and you want a miracle makeover for your living room? Or may be a family friend you haven’t seen in ages will visit your house? Perhaps you simply want a change of ambiance in a jiffy?
It would be nice to be able to strategically and efficiently plan for a room makeover. It would be great to have time enough to get inspiration from décor magazines, visit home decoration showrooms or even to ask around for other people's opinions. However if you don't have this luxury, what other option do you have?
If time is unfortunately against you, don't let your decorative spirit die down. Instead, why don't you read along and see how you can makeover your room in a jiffy.
COLOR MODIFICATION
It's all about color. The color scheme of your room serves as the base of your overall design. That's why by simply changing the color of your wall, it can make the rest of your work easier and quicker to achieve. Be sure to choose water-based paint. They dry faster, the smell doesn't linger and they offer nicer finishes.
After painting your wall, you are now ready to change the overall color scheme of your living room. One important point you have to consider, however, is you can only work within the family of colors you chose to paint your walls with.
Purchase small items like throw pillows, throw blankets, curtains, ottoman or even an area rug. These pieces, although relatively small, can add a large impact in the look of your room. By adding these decorative touches, you achieve an ensemble that perfectly blends with your overall hue.
ALTER THE MOOD
Another trick to achieve that quick makeover is to change the mood.
Let's start with the lighting. You may add a table lamp or you can quickly install dimmers to achieve a completely different drama in your living room. Changing your wall décor also changes the mood of your room. If you want it to have an energetic mood, hang colorful abstracts - while romantic paintings provide calmness and sophistication. Another quick fix is changing the scent of your decorative candles. Try getting those candles with relaxing scents to help your visitor calm down. If you have spare cash to burn, you may also purchase miniature a Zen waterfall to add the soothing sound of splashing water. This not only changes the mood of a room but it can also create an instant topic for your visitors to discuss.
More than anything, the key in achieving a quick overhaul for your living room is - DO NOT PANIC! There is time (though not much) - just make sure not to waste more of it. Focus on the controllable and never on the impossible.
Better start now while there is little time left.

When he first came home, though, my mom took one look at him and asked, “What about the garden?” Read article »
