Fake Windows, Anyone?
Lots of people have wished for an extra window or two in a certain room in the house but have not been able to relish the idea due to architectural limitations or budget constraints. If you are one of those people, do not despair. There is probably one more option left for you.
Although a fake window could never bring that extra light you want, it will however perk up your place and add another layer on your walls. Not to mention it can also add vibrant colors and interesting lines where none were before. There are a lot of ways to install fake windows. Although they might not be as functional and beautiful as the real thing, fake windows can still offer aesthetic benefits to most rooms.
Remember if you cannot have the real-deal, stick to the next best option you've got.
These are the items you need to have a fake window:
1. Real window unit (window frame)
2. Realistic-looking landscape poster
3. Glue
4. Nails
5. Hammer
6. Curtain (optional)
Before we proceed with anything, make sure that the spot you intend to place the window is clean. Scrub it with detergent if you have to. Next, glue the poster of your choice behind the window frame unit. It is important to choose realistic-looking landscape poster to achieve a natural feel. I suggest you go for a poster with a garden design. Avoid gluing posters with prints that are impossible to be part of your neighborhood - a scene of the White House even if you live along Legaspi Village in Makati would of course look ludicrous. Again, our goal here is to make it as real as possible.
Once the poster you attached to your window dries, our next step is to nail the window on your wall. Depending on the size of your window, make sure you hammer enough nails to fully support the window unit. Ask for help if you are not comfortable with using hammer and nails. The key here is to make sure that the window is properly leveled and balance - measure the size to avoid mistakes.
Basically you now have your fake window attached. But we can add a few more items to complete the drama of your newly installed window (okay, it is fake). If you have more time, try hanging a curtain or even a book shelf next to your window. This will complete the overall feel of having a window in your room. You can also place a fan and lamp next to your window to achieve a fake outdoorsy breeze and sunlight.
Enjoy your new window.
Drying Hair Works Better than Hair Cement
I, being a vainglorious individual, adore how my hair flows down to take the shape of my neck and shoulders. It gives the impression of grace for an innocent onlooker, especially when my locks follow the wind’s general direction. The problem is, I happen to be a straight guy, who in all default angles, don’t know much about hair care as compared to the average woman. Read article »
How to Make Your Garden Pet Friendly
I wish I could show you my pet lab, Sirius, who is about to turn three years old next February, but he’s so active and kind of camera-shy so it’s kind of impossible at the moment. When I first got him, he was this small puppy and it was so hard to imagine that he would grow up any taller than he is now. When he first came home, though, my mom took one look at him and asked, “What about the garden?” Read article »
Mural Miracles
I was at a bar here in Baguio City when I saw some pretty looking murals painted on the walls of the place. I think it was the beer talking, but I think that if you have a lot of artistic talent, you can use murals and other homemade artwork on your home. Read article »

This is very imaginative and rather easy to do... I'll try this on my daughters room.
