How to Spice up your Hallways
Hallways play an important role in connecting one space in your home to another – sort of like a prelude to what people should expect to see next. Also, if you come to think of it, hallways do not belong to the category of “Path less Taken” since visitors and owners use this to wander the entire house. Thus, if you have given very little attention to your halls, now is the time to break the habit.
Here are some tips on how to spice up your hallways:
For a short hallway leading to a closet or bathroom, the passageway should be kept uncluttered and neat at all times. It would better if the material used for the hallway resembles that of other rooms in the house in order to create a sense of consistency and coordination. Also, make sure the hallway floors near bathrooms and closets are not slippery.
On hallways directly linked to the main level of your home (where rooms are mostly connected), make sure to decorate the space in unison to the overall theme. For example, if you have Bali inspired rooms, do the same with the hall. What we are trying to avoid is to shock and confuse the senses as our eyes wanders the entirety of the design - a concept that should be applied whenever we do home décor.
For wall treatment, use hanging photos or painting to continue the living space theme. Again this should be consistent with the rest of your home's theme. Choose paintings or portraits that add color and character to your halls. Try to tell a story to you visitors as they walk through the hallways of your home. But make sure not to exaggerate though. Speaking of, I remember my cousin May and how she posted an elaborate series of self-portraits. When I first saw it, I thought she is trying to copy her Facebook profile in her hall by hanging 10 pictures of herself. I mean talk about narcissism.
If space is something your hallway has, then you have the luxury to be more creative. Some ideas you may want to consider is to place a glass console table. Choosing glass over a solid wood is a wiser option since glass top console table is visually lighter to look at - since our eye can penetrate through the glass. If reading is something your household fancy, placing a mini library along your hallway is something you may want to do. Again, this is considering functionality and decorative intention. Since you have enough room in your hallway, another way to utilize the space is by creating a pseudo-sitting room along the hallway itself.
Once you have achieved the design you want for your hallways, never forget to consider proper lighting. Since most hallways do not have a window next to them, having enough light is a must (especially at night). A brilliant idea is to install wall-type-lamps on your hall. Depending on the size of you hallway, make sure to calculate if installing more than one lamp is feasible - so you can have an even distribution of light.
Try not to ignore your hallways by not to adding your decorative touch on them. Reality is, it is inexpensive to spice up your halls - all you need is a little inspiration, an eye for style and of course, a hallway to work on.

Have Fun with Wallpapers
Most people are intimidated when they hear wallpapers in home décor. “Wallpapers are only for the pro”, that’s what my friend said to me once. Is it really, I asked myself? I don’t tend to agree – but it does take courage to glue this decorative sheet of paper on your wall. Read article »
Not a Fib over Fiber
Eating the whole day or not eating at all retards my stomach’s digestion activity. I am considered sinful and stubborn because I do not mind missing or skipping meals. I also base my eating habits for a day at events and occasions depending on my emotions. I deal with hunger as a flip of a coin. Read article »
Bedroom Fashion: Dressing up your windows
I know you guys aren’t idiots, but for the sake of clarity, let me just say that by dressing up your windows, I didn’t mean knit them scarves and somehow manage to make it look like they have necks to wrap them around with.
