Well-Designed Bathrooms are Fashion Accessories

Decorating stuff isn’t really one of my hobbies, given that I have better things to do such as watching TV, eating junk food and sleeping for nearly the entire weekend. There are days when I simply do not care about aesthetics, classiness and all the visual mumbo-jumbo. But there are also times when I want to turn my bathroom into one big fashion accessory. It just so happened that yesterday was one of those fashionable days and I had a lot of free time on my hands.

I walked in my bathroom early in the afternoon. When I turned the light on, I noticed how the tiles looked elegant beneath the pale yellow glow. It was a marvelous sight, to say the least. Though somehow, I couldn't help but feel that something is still lacking. Things often associated with beauty are not merely comprised by symmetrically placed items. They have tiny details placed in certain corners to form the concept artists fondly call "impression." Well, in my bathroom's case, impressions are represented by bathroom ornaments. And they were yet to be found.

In an instant, I took pictures of my bathroom, compared them to the pictures of my friends' bathrooms, which I took in secret, then rode off to the mall. I got a wall lampshade, an economy size flowering plant, a glass-based shower enclosure, and a miniature fountain, complete with tiny plant and rock arrangements.

I hurried home, upon making the final purchase. I sketched the bathroom with all the ornaments in place. It was pure ornamental bliss. The lampshade was perfect beside the vanity mirror. And so was the flowering plant, which was set on the sink. The fountain looked dainty as it filled the space between the bathtub and the shower. As for the glass enclosure, it completed the earthy elegant theme.

I was very pleased with how my bathroom turned out. I called my friends and organized a sudden night out, just to tell them about all the bathroom-related developments. The funny thing was, all I had were an impressionless bathroom, several ornaments and a detailed sketch.

Imagine how I would celebrate when the sketch becomes a poor imitation of my bath in a few days.
